El tractor D7 comenzó a fabricarse en 1938 por la empresa Carterpillar Inc. y ha sido utilizado tanto para fines civiles como en varios ejércitos en todas sus variantes,
 El D7 es un tractor medio capaz de mover 25 toneladas gracias a su motor diesel de 200hp Cat 3306T.
 La maqueta de Miniart reproduce fielmente este clásico tractor en su configuración más sencilla, la de arrastre. Compuesto por un buen montón de piezas, el tractor va tomando forma a lo largo de un montaje sin complicaciones gracias a un manual de instrucciones claro y ameno. El excelente detalle de las piezas resulta especialmente llamativo en las más delicadas, como las múltiples palancas, que habrá que manipular con cuidado para no romperlas.
 La maqueta incluye un montón de detalles que quedan ocultos bajo el carenado del tractor y de los patines de rodaje, sin embargo Miniart nos ofrece la posibilidad de dejar casi todos estos elementos expuestos gracias a un despiece concienzudo.

The D7 tractor has been produced since 1938 at the Caterpillar industries and is part of a family of which is in the medium type. Being produced in various configurations and models, it has been used both for civil purpose and in the army.
 The D7 tractor is capable of a 25ton work due to it's diesel de 200hp Cat 3306T engine.
Miniart's model reproduces with high detail this classic tractor in it's more simple configuration as a prime mover. The model is made out of quite a lot of pieces and builds itself without complications thanks to a manual that shows the steps clearly and amusingly. The excellent detail of the pieces is constant and soem of them, as the multiple levers, are so delicate that will require all of our care to handle without breaking them.
 The model has a lot of details that are hidden once the building is finished, however, Miniart offer us the possibility of showing most of them due to the multiple parts that can be put aside or simple fixed in different positions.

El motor resulta especialmente llamativo gracias a la gran cantidad de piezas que lo componen, decidí comenzar a pintar en seguida, antes de que no pudiera acceder con facilidad a algunas de las piezas.
The engine is quite impressive due to the many components, I decided to start painting very soon before I could be unable to reach some parts with ease.

Utilicé una imprimación de color verde oliva para pintar los diferentes elementos según los añadía.
I used an Olive drab primer to paint the different elements as I added them.

 Las cadenas representaron la parte más tediosa del montaje, cada eslabón está compuesto por cuatro piezas que hay que alinear bien y pegar con cuidado para que queden articuladas y se muevan con soltura. Este proceso nos facilitará el posterior montaje en los patines y reproducir la típica caída en los eslabones superiores.
The tracks is the most boring part of the building, each link is made out of four pieces that you must align properly and fix with car in order to let them articulate and move freely. This process will allow us to palce them perfectly atthe boogies and reproduce the typical sagging on the upper links.

Tras pintar todas las piezas con la imprimación verde oliva, usé otros colores más claros de la misma gama en forma de filtros, tirados con el aerógrafo, para producir algunas luces.
After painting all the parts with the olive drab primer, I applied some filters with the airbrush with lighter tones to produce some lights.

Pinté los desconchones en la pintura con una mezcla de color marrón oscuro y negro usando la técnica del estarcido.
I painted the chipping with a mix of dark brown and black colours using the stencilling technique.

Usé diferentes pigmentos sobre la superficie humedecida con un lavado acrílico para crear una textura y color de óxido.
I used many pigments over an acrilyc wash moistened surface to create a rust texture and colour look.

El pigmento de grafito resulta idóneo para imitar el metal pulido.
The graphite pigment is perfect to imitate the polished metal.

La acumulación de pigmentos de diversos tonos terrosos sirve para crear una capa de barro seco, solo hay que fijarlo con un poco de aguarrás o con el pegamento especial para pigmentos.

 The accumulation of different earth colour pigments is perfect to imitate a dry mud texture overthe tracks, just fix them with white spirit or ant special pigments fixer.

Coloqué una revista Life y un cartel de "minas" en la maqueta para romper un poco el tono verde oliva y creé una sencilla base con un par de obstáculos antitanque para exponer la maqueta terminada.
I added a Life magazine and a "mines" wood sign to break the general olive drab tone and created a simple base with a couple of anti tank obstacles to show the finished model.
